We live in a world where we’re bombarded with messages of dissatisfaction, and it’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of more. But, what if we took a step back and asked ourselves a simple question before getting an attitude or being dissatisfied: “Was it effective?”
Think about it, if you’re reading this right now, you’re able to use your eyes to see the words. You have a roof over your head, and clothes on your back. You have food in your stomach, and a comfortable place to rest. These are all things to be grateful for, and it’s important to appreciate what we have, rather than focusing on what we don’t.
I want to share an analogy with you. Have you ever heard someone say, “Did you eat?” It’s a simple question, but it holds a powerful message. Regardless of whether the meal was gourmet or basic, the fact is, you were fed and nourished. And, as Big Mama would say, “It made a turd didn’t it?” This humorous statement reminds us that no matter what we’re eating, it’s still nourishing our bodies.
In the same way, let’s be appreciative and grateful for what we have, rather than focusing on what we don’t. Ask yourself, “Was it effective?” Did it get the job done, and did it fulfill its purpose? If the answer is yes, then be grateful for what you have.
So, let’s take a step back and be mindful of our thoughts and emotions. Let’s focus on what we have, rather than what we don’t. Let’s be appreciative and grateful, and choose happiness over hate.
May God bless you, and remember, it made a turd, didn’t it? 🤣

Once upon a time, there was a woman named Laquita. She was a hard-working, ambitious woman who always strived for more. However, despite her success, she found herself constantly feeling unsatisfied and unhappy. No matter what she accomplished, she always felt like there was something more she could have done.
One day, Laquita’s mentor, Big Mama, noticed that she was feeling down and offered her some wise words of advice. Big Mama told Laquita, “Before you get an attitude or start feeling dissatisfied, ask yourself, ‘Was it effective?’ It may not have been what you wanted, but it got the job done, and that’s what matters.”
Laquita was a bit taken aback by Big Mama’s words, but she couldn’t deny the wisdom in them. She realized that she was so focused on what she didn’t have or what she could have done better, that she wasn’t appreciating what she did have.
From that day on, Laquita started asking herself, “Was it effective?” before getting an attitude or being dissatisfied. She found that this simple question helped her to reframe her thoughts and focus on what she did have, rather than what she didn’t.
One day, Laquita came home after a long day at work, feeling tired and hungry. She was disappointed to find that there was no gourmet meal waiting for her. But, before she could let that bring her down, she remembered Big Mama’s words, “Did you eat?” Laquita laughed to herself, “It may not have been what I wanted, but it still nourished my body.”
From that day forward, Laquita lived a life filled with gratitude and appreciation. She realized that the key to happiness wasn’t in constantly striving for more, but in appreciating what she had. And, as Big Mama would say, “It made a turd, didn’t it?”
So, let’s take a cue from Laquita, and ask ourselves, “Was it effective?” before getting an attitude or being dissatisfied. Let’s be grateful for what we have, and choose happiness over hate.
